By John Anderson
Good morning, Parkway family and friends and anybody else who may have an opportunity to read this. My name is John Anderson. I am a member at Parkwood Christian Center, one of many in leadership there. I’d like to come to you this morning as part of our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting at Parkway, and we’re asking today, Day 6, that many of you would join together with us to pray for those who are first responders in our community, not just our community, but all over the state and all over this world.
There are many people who volunteer and go into occupations, where they’re responding to things and dealing with things on a daily basis that many of us will never understand. I spent 28 years in law enforcement, as a first responder. And so I know what it involves. I know what they take home and the things that sometimes overwhelm them.
So this morning, I’m just asking that during this time, as we move into 2025, that as you see patrol cars passing you by, when you see law enforcement, paramedics, firefighters, on the street in their vehicles. I ask today that you would lift them up, that you would begin to pray for them, that you would ask the Lord to intercede.
When they go home with the things that many of us can’t understand, that the God we serve would give them comfort and peace in the midst of everything that’s going on in their lives. So today, as we join together in prayer for these folks that have chosen a life of servitude, of being a servant to their community, to their states, to local jurisdictions, I would ask that we lift them up in prayer, that we intercede for them.
I’m asking you to think of them as you go through not just your days, but in the many months ahead to lift your first responders up in prayer.
So, Father, today, Lord, you know those who are involved in first responding, law enforcement, paramedics, firefighters, Lord, you know all of those who have chosen to take that occupation to be in service to the community. So, Father, we pray that you would lift them up, that you would be there with them, that you would stand alongside them, that you would protect them, a hedge of protection around them, and the covering over them.
We pray for their families, Father, and many who are alongside them as they walk through these occupations. Father, we pray a special blessing upon them. We pray that as we see them, Lord, in the community, we would lift them up in prayer. We pray, God that we would stand in intercession daily. Lord for them thanking and pray that they would feel, Lord, the appreciation in this community from people.
Lord, that you’ve chosen to stand in the gap for them. Lord, we ask you all of these things in your name. Believing by faith that you’ll work it out. Would you hold them in your hand that you led them into this life of service and God? We just pray that you would have your way in their life.
We give you thanks and praise. In Jesus name. Amen.
21 Days of Prayer and Fasting will culminate on the 19th, 20th and 21st at Parkway Christian Center with three nights of in person services. And I would encourage and invite all of you to attend a time of worship and praise and prayer for many things in our community. So, right now I’m just asking for you to join.
